‘Sandala’ remark: Officer appointed to enquire Seeman

The State Minority Commission has initiated an investigation into Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman following complaints that he defamed members of a particular caste while criticizing former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi during the Vikravandi by-election campaign.
During the campaign, Seeman reportedly referred to the late leader as “sandala,” a term associated with another community, which offended members of that community. This prompted Ajeesh, a resident of Pattabiram, to file a complaint at the Pattabiram police station, demanding action against Seeman.
After no immediate action was taken, Ajeesh escalated the matter to the State Minority Commission by submitting a petition. The commission, recognizing the seriousness of the issue, directed the police to register a complaint against Seeman.
As a result, the Pattabiram police have registered a case against Seeman under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Assistant Commissioner of Pattabiram, Suresh Kumar, has been appointed as the investigating officer to handle the case.
