Cops quiz OPS’ brother in land dispute case

Nagarajan, a resident of South Agraharam in Theni’s southern region and a document writer by profession, has had a close friendship with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam for over 20 years. Last week, Nagarajan filed a complaint with the Theni District Crime Branch police, alleging that he had taken a loan of Rs. 4 crore from O. Raja, the brother of O. Panneerselvam, to help his son Ilangumaran start a business. Nagarajan claims that even after repaying the loan, Raja has been demanding an additional Rs. 2.25 crore and has allegedly issued death threats.
In response to this complaint, the Theni District Crime Branch police summoned both Nagarajan and O. Raja for questioning. O. Raja, a former Aavin Chairman and ex-chairman of the Periyakulam Municipality, informed the authorities that he was unable to attend due to prior commitments, leading the police to issue another summons.
On the following evening, both Nagarajan and O. Raja appeared at the Theni District Crime Branch office located within the Theni District SP’s office premises. Inspector Maya Rajalakshmi conducted the inquiry. After questioning, the police scheduled the next round of investigation for the 10th of this month, instructing both parties to be present for further inquiry.
The ongoing investigation sheds light on the legal and financial disputes involving close associates of prominent political figures, raising questions about the influence of power and money in such relationships.
