Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai issued an apology from London after releasing a video in which hotelier Srinivasan of Annapoorna Hotel apologized to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
During a meeting in Coimbatore, Srinivasan had humorously raised concerns with Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding GST tax differences. The video of this interaction went viral, after which Srinivasan was seen apologizing to the Finance Minister in a new video, sparking controversy. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi condemned the incident, stating it was humiliating for businesspeople.
Concerned about the political fallout, Annamalai, who is currently in London, issued a statement on social media. In his post, he apologized for the release of the video featuring Srinivasanâs apology to the Finance Minister. He also expressed regret to Srinivasan for the situation caused by the video’s release.
“Annapoorna’s Srinivasan is a pillar of Tamil Nadu’s business community, contributing significantly to the economic growth of the state and the country. I request everyone to consider this issue closed,” Annamalai stated in his message.
