Tamil Nadu’s School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, on Friday assured that the demands raised by teachers will be fulfilled soon in consultation with Chief Minister MK Stalin, who is currently on an official visit to the United States. Addressing reporters, the minister emphasized his commitment to resolving the ongoing deadlock between the government and the Tamil Nadu Elementary Teachers Organizations Joint Action Committee (TETO-JAC), whose members boycotted schools last Tuesday in support of their demands.

Among the primary demands of the teachers is a salary scale on par with the Union government’s pay structure. Poyyamozhi stated that out of the 31 demands placed by the teachers, 12 have already been assured acceptance by the government. “We understand the teachers are fighting for their rights, and I am confident we can find a resolution after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister,” the minister said.

When questioned about the ongoing controversy surrounding self-styled motivational speaker Mahavishnu’s speech at a government school in Chennai, the minister declined to comment, stating that the case is now with the court. “The law will take its course,” he remarked, refusing to provide further details on the matter.

He clarified that the VCK is merely organizing a conference to raise awareness on the prohibition issue and that this should not be politicized. “Minister for Prohibition, Muthusamy, has already responded to this matter, and his statement stands,” Poyyamozhi added.

The minister expressed confidence in finding common ground with the teachers, reiterating that their concerns would be promptly addressed once the Chief Minister returns to Tamil Nadu. The boycott has highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by educators, and
