The Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Tamil Nadu unit has written to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding the dismissal of K Selvaperunthagai, the president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC). The BSP has accused Selvaperunthagai of orchestrating the murder of former BSP state chief K Armstrong. In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, BSP state general secretary K Jeyshankar alleged that Selvaperunthagai, along with notorious rowdy Nagendran, planned Armstrong’s assassination. Nagendran was later arrested by the state police in connection with the case.
Jeyshankar also pointed out multiple murder cases against Selvaperunthagai, including the involvement of Ashwathaman, principal general secretary of the Youth Wing (INC), who was arrested for his role in Armstrong’s murder. Ashwathaman, described as a known criminal working for his father Nagendran and Selvaperunthagai, was allegedly appointed by Selvaperunthagai.
The BSP further alleged that Selvaperunthagai was involved in other high-profile murder cases, including those of Auditor Pandian, Albert, and PPG Shankar. The party questioned why the TNCC president had not been arrested, suggesting political protection due to his position within the Congress and the INDIA bloc alliance with the ruling DMK government.
In its letter, the BSP urged Rahul Gandhi to remove Selvaperunthagai from his position as TNCC president, stating that doing so would help preserve the Congress party’s image among the people of Tamil Nadu.
