The Indian government has clarified that no meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump has been scheduled during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States. This announcement came a day after Mr. Trump, during a campaign rally, claimed that Mr. Modi was “coming to meet” him next week.
Addressing the media, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided details on the Prime Minister’s visit, which is scheduled from September 21-23, 2024. During the trip, Modi will participate in the Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware, and hold separate bilateral meetings with U.S. President Joseph Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
In addition to the Quad summit, PM Modi will attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where he will address the “Summit of the Future” on September 22 and 23. Several high-level bilateral meetings are also planned during his time in New York, though none with Trump, according to the Indian government.
