The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has expressed its support for the possible elevation of Udhayanidhi Stalin to the position of Deputy Chief Minister, calling it a timely and welcome move. TNCC state unit president K. Selvaperunthagai made the remarks during a press interaction in Tiruchy on Tuesday.Speaking to reporters, Selvaperunthagai emphasized Udhayanidhi Stalin’s qualifications, stating, “Udhayanidhi Stalin has all the eligibility to become the Deputy Chief Minister, and the TNCC will always welcome the government’s move on his elevation.” He further praised Udhayanidhi’s performance, highlighting his dedication to the party and his exceptional work as a minister.
Selvaperunthagai also addressed the strength of the INDIA bloc, an alliance of opposition parties including the DMK and Congress. He affirmed that the alliance is strong and committed to protecting the Constitution. When questioned about recent remarks by VCK deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjuna, Selvaperunthagai described it as an internal party matter and noted that VCK general secretary Ravikumar had already addressed the issue, leaving no need for further comment.
The TNCC president also criticized the BJP for making scandalous statements against the INDIA bloc. He announced that the alliance plans to organize a conference in response, with participation from all member leaders. “We will soon meet Chief Minister MK Stalin and invite him to the conference,” he added.
The endorsement from TNCC comes amid ongoing speculation about Udhayanidhi Stalin’s potential promotion within the government, reflecting broad support from alliance partners as they gear up for future political challenges.
