Tamil Nadu Handlooms Minister R. Gandhi officially inaugurated one side of the newly constructed bridge across Level Crossing 2 at the railway siding line in Pattabiram. The project represents a significant development in the area, with the state government allocating ₹78.31 crore for its construction. This funding included ₹23.53 crore designated for land acquisition and ₹35.58 crore for civil works.Currently, traffic movement is restricted to one side of the bridge as the railways have not yet constructed a span over the railway lines. The project, which received government approval in 2011, saw construction commence in March 2018, marking a lengthy journey towards completion.
Local activists have welcomed the bridge’s inauguration, emphasizing its importance for the thousands of residents in Avadi, Nemilicheri, and Pattabiram.
