The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched an initial inquiry into an incident involving the display of a banner honoring Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the terrorist organization Hezbollah, who was killed by the Israeli military.
Hassan Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah, a terrorist group that wielded significant influence in Lebanon, was reportedly killed by Israeli forces. In response, a banner was put up near a mosque in Chennai’s Meersahibpet, mourning his death as though he had achieved martyrdom. This incident has raised concerns among both state and central intelligence agencies.
Authorities noted that in the past, suspects involved in a bomb plot at the Rameswaram Café in Bengaluru had stayed in areas like Royapettah, Chennai. Furthermore, central intelligence agencies have reported a significant presence of members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in Royapettah and Meersahibpet.
Recently, the NIA conducted raids in the Royapettah area in connection with the recruitment and weapons training of individuals for the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Now, the NIA has turned its attention to the display of the banner supporting Nasrallah. The agency is investigating the individuals behind the banner, their connections to Hezbollah, and whether any larger network is involved.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to uncover further details regarding the group’s affiliations and intentions.
