The Congress party on Tuesday raised concerns over a perceived delay in the uploading of election trends for the Haryana Assembly polls on the Election Commission of India (ECI) website. As trends began shifting in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress alleged that the slowdown in updates could be an attempt to manipulate data.
The opposition party also questioned whether the BJP was exerting pressure on the election administration by circulating what they called “outdated” and “misleading” trends. These accusations come as the BJP, which had earlier trailed in several exit polls, showed leads in 48 out of the 90 constituencies, while the Congress was ahead in 35 seats as per the latest updates.
Speaking on the issue, a Congress spokesperson said, “We are witnessing a suspicious slowdown in the release of official trends on the ECI website. The BJP seems to be sharing inaccurate data to confuse the public and create a narrative of victory, which raises serious questions about the transparency of the process.”
The Congress had earlier anticipated a comfortable victory based on exit polls, with predictions of winning 55 seats, well above the 45-seat majority mark. However, the latest results seem to indicate a different scenario, with the BJP poised for a third consecutive win in Haryana.
As the counting continues, the Congress has called for a transparent and speedy release of accurate data from the Election Commission to ensure fair and unbiased reporting of the results. The party has also urged vigilance to prevent any manipulation of the voting process
