Renowned actress and filmmaker Revathy has announced her much-anticipated return to direction with a new Tamil series for Disney+ Hotstar. The series will be co-directed by Siddharth Ramaswamy, who will also serve as the cinematographer for the project. In an exciting update shared on social media, Revathy revealed that filming will commence on October 5, along with a glimpse of the director’s copy, hinting at the project’s development.

This upcoming series marks Revathy’s sixth directorial venture, following her impressive debut in 2002 with the English-language film Mitr, My Friend, which earned the prestigious Best English Film of the Year award at the 49th National Film Awards. Over the years, she has cemented her place not only as a talented actor but also as a thoughtful and impactful director. Her last directorial project was the 2022 Hindi film Salaam Venky, which starred Kajol and Vishal Jethwa in the lead roles and received critical acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of familial bonds and end-of-life issues.

Revathy, known for her iconic roles in films like Mouna Ragam, has successfully balanced her acting and directing careers. Her most recent on-screen performance was in the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Tiger 3, where she had a pivotal role. Additionally, she was seen in the 2023 Netflix series Tooth Pari: When Love Bites, showcasing her versatility as an actor across genres.

Fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting her next directorial offering, as Revathy continues to carve her own path in Indian cinema with powerful storytelling and rich character-driven narratives.
