
Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Vaishnav College (DDGDVC) celebrated World Teachers’ Day with a special event marking the college’s 60th anniversary. Capt. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo welcomed the gathering, and Shri P. Haridas unveiled the 60th-year logo, reminiscing about the institution’s growth from 500 students in 1964 to its current 11,500 students and 500 faculty members, offering 60 degree programs.
Secretary Shri Ashok Kumar Mundhra, an alumnus, emphasized the college’s progress in academics and infrastructure. The event also saw the inauguration of the Vaishnav Social Responsibility (VSR) cell by Shri Manoj Kumar Sonthalia, focusing on community engagement in villages around Thiruverkadu and Avadi. First-year students will contribute 40 hours to social service under this initiative.
Principal Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo announced a research grant of Rs. 4.25 lakh for 18 faculty members across various disciplines. Chief guest Dr. R. Velraj motivated the faculty to focus on nation-building by enhancing students’ attitudes, skills, and knowledge (ASK model). The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. M. D. Balakumaran. Over 500 faculty and 200 students participated.
