As of September, Tamil Nadu’s total installed capacity of solar power plants has reached an impressive 9,270 MW, placing the state in the third position for solar power installation in the country.The central government continues to urge all sectors to adopt renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, which are environmentally friendly and help reduce carbon emissions. Many large corporations are setting up high-capacity solar power plants for their own use or to supply electricity to power boards.
In addition to large-scale installations, smaller rooftop solar power systems are being set up on buildings and agricultural lands to generate electricity.
According to data released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy as of September 30, Rajasthan holds the top position in the country with a total installed solar power capacity of 24,224 MW, followed by Gujarat with 15,120 MW. Tamil Nadu is ranked third with its steadily growing solar capacity, reflecting the state’s commitment to harnessing renewable energy.
