The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has implemented temporary traffic diversions from October 6 to October 14 due to ongoing Chennai Metro Rail construction work on Mount Poonamallee Road, between Buhari Hotel Junction and Kathipara Flyover.Key Diversions:
– No Change: Vehicles heading from Kathipara Flyover to Porur will continue without diversions.
– From Porur to Kathipara: Vehicles will be diverted from Mount Poonamallee Road at the BEL Army Road junction. They must turn left at War Cemetery X BEL Army Road junction, opposite Buhari Hotel, and proceed via Defence Colony 1st Avenue.
– Light Vehicles: Can use St. Thomas Hospital Road to reach Butt Road.
– Other Vehicles: Will be redirected via Cantonment Road → Sundar Nagar 7th Cross → Dhanakotti Raja Street → SIDCO Industrial Estate South Phase Road → Olympia X 100 Feet Road junction.
From Olympia Junction, vehicles can either take a right to Kathipara or a left towards Vadapalani.
The diversions are part of a trial, and motorists are advised to follow the new routes until October 14.
