With a year and a half remaining until the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) remarked that “anything can happen before the elections.” He made this statement while responding to a question about whether the AIADMK would support a coalition government in the 2026 elections.
Speaking at a gathering of AIADMK party workers in Salem, EPS emphasized the ever-changing nature of politics. “The wheel keeps turning. The one at the top will come down, and the one at the bottom will rise. This government is not a permanent one. No party enjoys permanent victory or defeat,” he said, highlighting the cyclical nature of political success.
EPS further added that the DMK relies on the strength of alliances, as they lack independent strength. “DMK depends on the power of alliances; they do not have the strength to stand alone,” he said, asserting the AIADMK’s potential to contest strongly.
Reflecting on his own political journey, EPS said, “I have contested seven times in the state assembly elections and three times in the parliamentary elections. I have held positions as Minister, Chief Minister, and now General Secretary, all thanks to your support.” He underscored the AIADMK’s resilience and assured party workers that the future remains open for possibilities leading up to the 2026 elections.
