Members of the Tamil Nadu Naidu Mahajana Sangam have called for action against actor and activist Kasthuri Shankar, accusing her of defaming the Telugu-speaking community in Tamil Nadu. Led by General Secretary A. Bose Naidu, the group submitted a formal petition to the Commissioner of Police in Madurai on Tuesday, seeking intervention over remarks they claim disturb social harmony.
The Sangam alleges that Kasthuri’s comments not only demean the Telugu-speaking community but also target Telugu women, potentially stoking racial hatred and dividing communities in the state. “All people, irrespective of caste, religion, language, and race, live united in Tamil Nadu,” members of the Sangam stated. “Kasthuri’s comments are an affront to this unity and disrupt the social fabric of our state. Such remarks amount to inciting division and could cause significant distress among the Naidu community and other Telugu-speaking residents.”
The petition further claims that Kasthuri’s statements were made to gain publicity, and that they could lead to law and order issues. The Naidu Mahajana Sangam has urged the police to investigate and take necessary measures against the actor, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and harmony across Tamil Nadu.
