In a recent statement, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan confirmed that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) would remain in the DMK-led alliance for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aiming to quell rumors about potential shifts in the party’s political affiliations. He emphasized the VCK’s foundational role in establishing both the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance in Tamil Nadu and the INDIA bloc at the national level, reiterating that VCK has no intentions of seeking new alliances.
“We don’t need to search for any other alliance. The people who are against our ideology are spreading rumours about VCK. As the president of the movement, I strongly deny the speculations. VCK will be with the DMK-led alliance; there is no doubt about it,” Thirumavalavan stated.
Despite this clarification, Thirumavalavan noted that his participation in an upcoming book release event alongside actor-politician Vijay would be subject to discussions within the party. The event, honoring BR Ambedkar, was originally scheduled for April 14, with Chief Minister MK Stalin and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expected to attend. Following the rescheduling, Thalapathy Vijay was invited as a guest, leading to questions about the nature of Thirumavalavan’s involvement.
Thirumavalavan emphasized that VCK’s allegiance to the DMK-led alliance remains unshaken and reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s longstanding alliances. His statement seeks to dispel any doubt about VCK’s place within the DMK coalition amid rising political speculation surrounding his interactions with leaders from other parties.
