Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, who passed away on Saturday night in Chennai at the age of 80, has been remembered and mourned by leaders from across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan, and several other prominent figures.In his condolence message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Ganesh’s illustrious career in the film industry. Modi described the actor as a gifted artist with exceptional acting skills. “Delhi Ganesh was blessed with impeccable acting skills. He will be fondly remembered for the depth he brought to each role and for his ability to connect with viewers across generations. His passion for theatre was also remarkable. My condolences to his family and friends,” Modi said, highlighting the actor’s long-lasting influence on both cinema and theatre.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin also expressed his grief, noting Ganesh’s significant contribution to Tamil cinema. “Delhi Ganesh’s performances in more than 400 films are timeless, and his roles continue to entertain audiences even today. He made a lasting impact not just in Tamil cinema but also on the small screen. His passing is a great loss to the film industry, as he played some of the most enduring comedy and supporting roles in Tamil film history,” Stalin said. He also remembered Ganesh’s role in the movie Ilaignan, directed by his father and late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, adding a personal touch to his tribute.
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan, extended his condolences as well, expressing heartfelt sympathy to Delhi Ganesh’s family and close ones. “My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time,” Murugan said.
BJP state president K. Annamalai, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay, and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai also expressed their sorrow over the actor’s passing. They remembered Ganesh’s contributions to Tamil cinema and his beloved status among fans.
