Muruganandam, a resident of Gandhipuram, Coimbatore, and currently serving as the State General Secretary of the BJP, contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Tiruppur constituency but was unsuccessful.
In 2009, Muruganandam married Gnyanasoundari, daughter of Sundarasamy from Savadi Pudur near Madukkarai. At the time of the marriage, Sundarasamy reportedly gave 1.5 acres of land, 60 sovereigns of gold jewelry, and household items worth Rs. 10 lakh as dowry.
After a few years of marriage, Gnyanasoundari allegedly died by suicide due to family disputes. Sundarasamy requested Muruganandam to return the dowry items, but Muruganandam refused. Following this, Sundarasamy filed a case in the Coimbatore Additional Women’s Court.
When the case came up for hearing yesterday, both Muruganandam and his father failed to appear before the court. Consequently, Judge Rahuman issued an arrest warrant against the two and postponed the case to the 27th of this month.
