Tamil Nadu Minister Thangam Thennarasu has issued a sharp rebuttal to AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s recent statement regarding government employees’ demands. The Minister likened Palaniswami’s comments to an act as contradictory as trying to tie a knot on a bald head or a knee.In his statement, Thennarasu referred to Palaniswami’s remarks dismissing the DMK’s explanation as a “blank sheet” response. He pointed out past incidents within the AIADMK, including when, in the 2011 assembly elections, candidates’ lists were announced without coalition parties’ consent, which was later described as being done without then-leader Jayalalithaa’s knowledge.
He also recalled the 2007 presidential election, where Jayalalithaa admitted that she was unaware of her party’s MLAs and MPs participating in the voting process. Moreover, Thennarasu highlighted the infamous ‘TANSI case,’ in which Jayalalithaa denied signing certain documents, questioning the credibility of AIADMK’s actions as akin to “bald lies.”
Minister Thennarasu emphasized that the DMK government has consistently worked to secure employment opportunities for youth and protect the welfare of government employees, ensuring their legitimate demands are met. He criticized the AIADMK for harboring deep-seated animosity towards public servants, stating, “Government employees and teachers are not unaware of this reality.”
Thennarasu concluded by casting doubt on Palaniswami’s current display of concern, describing it as crocodile tears that seem as if even crocodiles themselves would be misled by such theatrics.
