In anticipation of the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season, Indian Railways has announced the launch of special trains to accommodate the surge in travel demand to the temple region. This initiative is designed to provide a comfortable and convenient travel experience for devotees journeying from Chennai to Kollam.
The special weekly train service, numbered 06111/06112, will operate between Dr. MGR Chennai Central and Kollam. The Chennai to Kollam service (Train No. 06111) is scheduled to depart from Dr. MGR Chennai Central at 23:20 hrs on select Tuesdays: November 19th, 26th, December 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st, as well as January 7th and 14th, 2025. The train will reach Kollam the next day at 14:30 hrs.
The return service from Kollam to Chennai (Train No. 06112) is set to depart from Kollam at 16:30 hrs on select Wednesdays: November 20th, 27th, December 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and January 1st, 8th, and 15th, 2025. It will arrive at Dr. MGR Chennai Central the following day at 11:35 hrs.
These special trains will feature a well-equipped coach composition to ensure the comfort of passengers. The train will include 2 AC Two-Tier Coaches, 4 AC Three-Tier Coaches, 12 Sleeper Class Coaches, 3 General Second Class Coaches, and 2 Divyangjan-friendly Second Class Coaches.
