AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has announced the reinstatement of Thalavai Sundaram to his previous responsibilities within the party.
Thalavai Sundaram, a prominent figure in the Kanyakumari district, has been a close associate of Edappadi K. Palaniswami. In 2016, despite AIADMK not securing any seats in the Kanyakumari district during the legislative assembly elections, he was appointed as the Tamil Nadu government’s representative in Delhi. He currently serves as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Kanyakumari constituency.
Sundaram was removed from his roles as the Kanyakumari East District Secretary and the Party’s Organizational Secretary on October 8. While factional disputes in Kanyakumari district were one of the reasons for his removal, the primary reason was his involvement in initiating an RSS rally, which was seen as contrary to the party’s principles.
It was also reported that Sundaram had acted in ways that were inconsistent with the party’s policies, goals, and ideologies. His actions, which deviated from the party’s legislative strategies, led to an inquiry. Consequently, he was temporarily relieved of his duties.
However, following a clarification from Sundaram regarding his actions, Edappadi Palaniswami has reassessed the situation and decided to reinstate him. Sundaram’s positions as the Organizational Secretary of the party and the Kanyakumari East District Secretary have now been restored, with an official announcement from the party leadership confirming the decision.
