Actor Dhanush and director Aishwarya appeared before the Chennai Family Court yesterday in connection with their divorce case. Both reaffirmed their decision to proceed with mutual divorce, following which the court announced that a verdict would be delivered on November 27.
Dhanush, a renowned actor, and Aishwarya, the elder daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, were married in 2004 after a love affair. The couple has two sons. However, differences arose between them a few years ago, leading to their public announcement of separation in 2022.
In April this year, both filed a petition seeking mutual divorce at the Chennai Family Court. The court had summoned them three times for personal appearances, but neither complied, sparking speculation about reconciliation.
Yesterday, the case was heard by Justice Subadevi, with both Dhanush and Aishwarya appearing in court. The judge held separate inquiries with them and asked whether they still stood firm on their decision to divorce despite being granted six months for self-reflection.
Both Dhanush and Aishwarya stated unequivocally that there was no change in their decision, and they remained committed to obtaining a mutual divorce.
Recording their statements, the judge announced that the final ruling in the case would be issued on November 27.
