Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman has strongly hit back at critics who have labeled him a ‘Sanghi,’ asserting that he is proud of the tag. This comment came in response to widespread criticism following his meeting with actor Rajinikanth and his opposition to the ruling DMK party.
Addressing the media on Friday, Seeman stated that if opposing the DMK leads to being branded a ‘Sanghi,’ he would gladly accept the label. The term ‘Sanghi’ is often associated with right-wing ideologies in India, particularly those linked with Hindu nationalism. Seeman, however, expressed that he would wear the term as a badge of honor, particularly in the context of his political stances.
Referring to his recent meeting with Rajinikanth, Seeman explained that the meeting was indeed a political one. He emphasized that anyone who wishes to see the nation and its people prosper must inherently have political interests. “Politics is a dangerous game, and I had previously criticized Rajinikanth for entering it, saying it doesn’t suit his mentality. It’s very difficult to remain honest in politics,” Seeman remarked. He noted that despite his earlier reservations about Rajinikanth’s political journey, he respected the actor’s experience, acknowledging that politics is a challenging field where maintaining integrity can be tough.
Seeman also echoed Rajinikanth’s sentiments about the existing political system, calling it flawed. “One who cannot bear criticism cannot achieve what they want,” Seeman remarked. He pointed out the hypocrisy within the political system, stating that the Chief Minister (CM) and Prime Minister (PM) meet in private as if they are close relatives but, in public, they refer to their critics as ‘Sanghi.’ Seeman added that in reality, the term ‘Sanghi’ simply means ‘friend.’ He further stated that if opposing the DMK results in being labeled as a ‘Sanghi,’ then he would proudly accept it.
This defense comes after Seeman’s meeting with Rajinikanth at the actor’s Poes Garden residence on Thursday. Seeman revealed that the meeting, which lasted over an hour, was a cordial one where the two discussed various topics, including the film industry, politics, and each other’s health. Seeman took the opportunity to praise Rajinikanth’s recent performance in the film ‘Vettaiyan’ and encouraged the actor to continue using his platform to express socially conscious ideas in his future films.
Additionally, Seeman addressed the issue of defections within his party, where several members have reportedly distanced themselves from the NTK. He responded to questions regarding this by claiming that the party itself was responsible for sending these individuals to other political factions. Seeman described these former members as spies, working for other parties, and referred to them as part of NTK’s “sleeper cells.” These individuals, according to Seeman, go to different movements, gather information, and send back intelligence, acting as informants for rival parties.
In conclusion, Seeman remains resolute in his political ideology, unapologetically defending his actions and affiliations. His meeting with Rajinikanth and his consistent opposition to the DMK reflect his broader stance on the political landscape, which he believes is mired in corruption and hypocrisy.
