The first day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction has ended. A total of 84 players (72 sold and 12 unsold) went under the hammer. Teams spent a total of Rs 467.95 crore. History was made at the IPL 2025 auction with star India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant becoming the most expensive player ever. Lucknow Super Giants picked him up for Rs 27 crore. Pant broke Shreyas Iyer’s record, who was picked by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. KKR went all out for Venkatesh Iyer and roped him in for Rs 23.75 crore. Yuzvendra Chahal became the most expensive Indian spinner ever in IPL as PBKS picked him for Rs 18 crore. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh was the first player to be sold in IPL 2025 Auction, that too by RTM card, at Rs 18 crore by PBKS.

Ishan Kishan will be donning the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey as he was picked by the former champions for Rs 11.25 crore. In 2022, Mumbai Indians bought him back for Rs 15.25 crore but did not go the distance for him this time. MI was pretty late to join the bidding war and made their first buy in Trent Boult for Rs 12.50 crore.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who smashed auction records last time when he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore, was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 11.75 crore this time around.

Most expensive player at IPL 2025 auction – Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 crore to LSG)
Most expensive overseas player at IPL 2025 auction – Jos Buttler (Rs 15.75 crore to GT)
Most expensive Indian player at IPL 2025 auction – Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 crore to LSG)
Most expensive uncapped player at IPL 2025 auction – Rasikh Dar (Rs 27 crore to RCB)
Each team has been allotted a total budget of Rs 120 crore to build a squad of a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players for IPL 2025. A maximum of eight overseas players are allowed in each team.

Star pacer Arshdeep Singh wreaked havoc and became the most expensive Indian bowler in the history of the IPL auction. Arshdeep was roped in by Punjab Kings using the Right To Match card option for a whopping amount of Rs 18 crore in the ongoing IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday, November 24. It was Sunrisers Hyderabad who made the final bid for Arshdeep Singh but then Punjab chipped in and ended up taking Arshdeep on the back of the RTM card.
Arshdeep Singh broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of Rs 16 crore from the IPL 2014 season in order to become the most expensive player from India. Later, Shreyas Iyer got a massive Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab Kings.
On the back of a brilliant stint for India in T20I, Arshdeep was rewarded by the Punjab-based franchise. The Punjab-based bowler also became the highest wicket-taker for India in T20I cricket after a brilliant run in India’s series win in South Africa in November. As of now, Arshdeep Singh has scalped 199 wickets in 149 games in his T20 career. Just after Arshdeep got picked, social media went berserk.
