Relief materials dispatched in trucks to flood-hit districts


Chief Minister M.K. Stalin flagged off trucks carrying relief materials, including 1.5 lakh kilograms of rice, from the Secretariat in Chennai to cyclone-affected districts on Wednesday. The initiative aims to assist districts severely impacted by the recent heavy rains and floods caused by Cyclone Penjal.
According to a statement from the DMK, the state government has intensified relief measures, and efforts to restore normalcy are underway. In Ariyalur district, DMK Minister S.S. Sivasankar distributed 25,000 food packets to residents of Vikravandi constituency.
In Kanchipuram North district, Minister Anbarasan dispatched one lakh kilograms of rice to affected areas. Similarly, in Chennai South district, DMK Minister Ma. Subramanian arranged for 1.5 lakh kilograms of rice to be sent to the impacted regions. Chief Minister Stalin flagged off these relief trucks from the Secretariat, marking another step in the ongoing efforts to support affected communities.
The unprecedented floods, which have devastated districts like Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, and Cuddalore, have left many in dire need of assistance. The government’s coordinated relief efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the disaster.
