A domestic passenger flight en route to Kochi from Chennai had to return to Chennai airport due to a sudden technical glitch mid-air. The incident occurred on Monday morning, shortly after the flight, carrying 90 passengers, departed at 6:30 am.
The pilot promptly alerted the Chennai Airport Control Room about the technical issue. Acting swiftly, air traffic controllers instructed the pilot to turn back and make an emergency landing at Chennai airport.
The flight landed safely at 7:15 am, with all passengers unharmed. Airport authorities immediately accommodated the passengers in lounges while alternative arrangements were made for their onward journey.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers and are ensuring their safety and comfort. The issue is being investigated, and a replacement aircraft is being arranged,” a spokesperson for the airline said.
Passengers praised the professionalism of the crew and the timely response of the pilot, which ensured their safety. The technical team is currently inspecting the aircraft to identify the cause of the glitch.
