Centenary book on ‘Kalaignar – Leader of the Legislative Assembly’ released

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released the centenary commemorative book titled ‘Sattasabai Nayagar – Kalaignar’ yesterday. The book was prepared by a committee headed by Speaker M. Appavu. The first copy was received by Minister for Water Resources Durai Murugan.
The book highlights significant speeches delivered by Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and landmark resolutions passed during his tenure as Chief Minister. It also includes congratulatory messages and essays from various eminent personalities, including current and former ministers, MLAs, journalists, and spiritual leaders.
As part of the celebrations, prizes were distributed to winners of speech competitions conducted at school and college levels. The winners received bank drafts and a statue of Karunanidhi from the Chief Minister. The prize categories included ₹1 lakh for the first prize, ₹75,000 for the second prize, and ₹50,000 for the third prize.
The release ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Speaker M. Appavu, Ministers Sekar Babu and Kovi Chezhian, Deputy Speaker Pichandi, and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan.
The event commemorated the legacy of Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, celebrating his remarkable contributions to Tamil Nadu’s legislative and political landscape during his centenary year.
