Sai Abhyankkar replaces AR Rahman in Suriya 45

Suriya’s much-anticipated project, directed by actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji, has seen a major change in its music department. Young singer-composer Sai Abhyankkar has been roped in to score the music for the film, replacing Academy Award-winner AR Rahman, whose name appeared on the initial posters.
The news has sparked speculations that Rahman might be taking a break from composing, though his daughter Khatija Rahman has dismissed such rumors. Rahman himself has yet to address the matter.
Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Suriya 45 is touted to be an action-adventure film and marks the production house’s most expensive venture to date. Cinematographer GK Vishnu, known for his stellar work in films like Mersal and Bigil, is also onboard. The film began production in late November, and while the rest of the cast remains under wraps, reports suggest Swasika, known for Lubber Pandhu, may play a key role.
RJ Balaji, who last directed Veetla Vishesham in 2022, was recently seen in Sorgavaasal and is working on another project titled Happy Ending. His directorial debut with a star like Suriya has already raised expectations, and the inclusion of Sai Abhyankkar as composer adds an intriguing layer to the film’s appeal.
