‘Farmers disrespected in TN’

PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss expressed his disappointment over the lack of respect given to farmers while addressing the press at a special event in Thailapuram. The event marked the release of a promotional song for the upcoming Farmers’ Movement State Conference, scheduled to take place in Tiruvannamalai on December 21.
The PMK’s Farmers’ Movement State Conference aims to address the challenges faced by farmers and discuss ways to improve agricultural practices. Speaking at the song release event, Ramadoss announced that two lakh people are expected to participate in the conference.
Highlighting the plight of farmers, he said, “The government is seizing agricultural lands at throwaway prices under the guise of SIPCOT (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu). Real estate developers are dividing lands under various names, leaving farmers in dire straits. Despite raising these issues for the past 17 years through shadow budgets, farmers continue to be disrespected. The entire world revolves around agriculture, yet there is no world without the farmer’s toil.”
Ramadoss emphasized that the conference would focus on identifying solutions and addressing issues that hinder the growth of agriculture.
The event was attended by PMK honorary president G.K. Mani, Vanniyar Sangam president Arulmozhi, PMK headquarters secretary Anbalagan, Farmers’ Movement president Velusamy, state social media council secretary Mukundan, and Villupuram East district PMK secretary Jayaraj.
The conference is expected to shed light on the pressing challenges in the agricultural sector and outline strategies to uplift farmers, ensuring their rightful recognition and support.
