The Tamil Nadu government has announced a special Pongal bonus for its employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners in celebration of the upcoming harvest festival.A total of ₹163.81 crore has been allocated for this purpose, according to a report by Daily Thanthi. The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to acknowledging the tireless efforts of its employees and retired personnel.
Key Highlights of the Pongal Bonus
Employees and teachers in C and D groups will receive a maximum additional payment of ₹3,000. Those receiving consolidated pay, special temporary allowances, or working full-time or part-time, provided they have completed at least 240 days of service in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, will be granted a special bonus of ₹1,000.
Further, pensioners and family pensioners falling under the C and D groups, including former village administrative officers (VAOs) and other individual pensioners, will receive ₹500 as a Pongal gift.
This gesture by the Tamil Nadu government aims to spread festive cheer while acknowledging the contributions of its workforce and retired officials. It also emphasizes the administration’s focus on fostering goodwill and ensuring inclusivity during the festive season.
