Annamalai assures no Tungsten project in Madurai

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai assured residents of A. Vallalapatti village near Melur in Madurai district that the controversial tungsten project would not be implemented in the region. He urged the protesting villagers to withdraw their agitation.
The villagers have been opposing the proposed tungsten project, citing concerns about its impact on biodiversity, agricultural lands, and rural livelihoods. Addressing the protesters, Annamalai commended their peaceful demonstration, which included a 16-km march conducted without causing any damage to public property.
“No Tungsten Project in Madurai”
During his visit, Annamalai said:
“Two days ago, your protest drew national attention. Without any political agenda, you voiced your concerns about preserving biodiversity, villages, and agricultural lands. Your demands have been accepted. You also opposed the tungsten project anywhere in the region, and this has been agreed upon as well.”
He further assured that the tungsten project would never materialize in Madurai. Annamalai stated that he had spoken to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy over the phone and received confirmation on this matter. He also announced that the Union Minister would visit the region after Pongal to officially declare that the project will not proceed. Following this, any machinery related to the project would be removed from the site.
Call to End Protest
Annamalai expressed gratitude to members of all political parties who supported the cause and appealed to the villagers to end their protest. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the protection of their rights and livelihoods.
