Stalin’s announces wages hike for rural artistes

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has directed an increase in the daily wages of rural artists participating in the Chennai Sangamam festival to ₹5,000. The Tamil Nadu government issued an official statement regarding this announcement.
According to the statement, following the successful conduct of the Chennai Sangamam – Namma Ooru Thiruvizha festival for the past three years, CM Stalin inaugurated this year’s edition of the festival. The event is aimed at promoting Tamil culture and traditions.
The government has made comprehensive arrangements for the rural artists participating in the festival. These include:
Two sets of clothing
Transportation facilities
In addition to these provisions, the Chief Minister has now approved a pay hike, increasing their daily wages to ₹5,000.
The festival, held at 18 locations across Chennai over four days, has been well-received by the public. This year, 1,500 rural artists are participating, divided into 75 teams, showcasing 50 different traditional art forms.
The Chennai Sangamam – Namma Ooru Thiruvizha continues to celebrate and preserve Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, with the government’s support ensuring a platform for rural artists to display their talents and receive recognition for their contributions.
