Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan has urged the Tamil Nadu government to hand over the Vengai Vayal case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He also appealed to the judicial court not to accept the chargesheet filed by the state police. In a statement, Thirumavalavan expressed shock over the Tamil Nadu police identifying three Scheduled Caste individualsâMurali Raja, Sudarshan, and Muthukrishnanâas the accused in the case. “The chargesheet filed by the police claims that these three individuals are responsible for contaminating the drinking water tank with human waste. It is unacceptable for the police to accuse members of the very community that was affected. This raises serious concerns about the investigation,” he stated.
The Tamil Nadu policeâs CB-CID division had earlier submitted an affidavit to the High Court, confirming the filing of a chargesheet in the case on January 20, naming the three individuals as culprits.
Thirumavalavan demanded that the court reject the chargesheet and order a thorough reinvestigation. “We strongly urge the Tamil Nadu government to transfer the case to the CBI to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry. This is essential to bring justice to the victims and maintain public trust,” he added.
