M. Solai Kannan, District President of the Hindu Makkal Katchi, has filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, alleging attempts by Islamic organizations to perform Qurbani (sacrifice of goats and chickens) near the temple at the Sikandar Badusha Dargah atop Tiruparankundram Hill in Madurai.
The petitioner highlighted the religious and historical significance of the Tiruparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, which is regarded as the first among the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Muruga. He emphasized the need to protect the sanctity of the temple and its surroundings.
Tiruparankundram, known for its ancient Kudavarai temple and eleven holy springs, holds immense cultural and spiritual importance, according to the petitioner. Solai Kannan called for judicial intervention to ensure that the sanctity and heritage of the area are preserved.
The petition is expected to come up for hearing soon in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.
