Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan has reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to pursuing a legal battle against Governor R.N. Ravi, accusing him of constitutional violations and acting against the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters on Friday after distributing welfare assistance to differently-abled beneficiaries, Chezhiaan emphasized that Tamil Nadu has consistently led the fight against anti-people projects introduced by the Union government. He stated that the State serves as an example for others in safeguarding regional rights.
“The government will continue its legal war against the Governor, who has been violating the Constitution and working against the interests of the Tamil Nadu people,” Chezhiaan said.
Highlighting the ongoing confrontation, the minister said that since the Governor has “crossed the limits,” the State has taken the issue to the Supreme Court. “Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is waging a battle to protect democracy in the country,” he added.
The Tamil Nadu government has repeatedly accused Governor Ravi of delaying key bills and interfering in State affairs, leading to heightened tensions between the Raj Bhavan and the ruling DMK-led administration. The ongoing legal fight is part of the larger battle between State autonomy and gubernatorial oversight, a contentious issue that has sparked debates across India.
