TN govt inks MoU with Evervan Kothari

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited for setting up non-leather footwear manufacturing facilities in the industrially backward districts of Karur and Perambalur involving an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.

The MoU was signed at the State Secretariat in the presence of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TR B Raaja and other officials from the State government.

The two facilities would create job opportunities for 50,000 people, an official release said.

The MoU was signed between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau, the investment promotion agency, and Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited, a subsidiary of the
Phoenix Kothari Group.

“This agreement facilitates the establishment of a non-leather footwear manufacturing project in  Karur and Perambalur districts, with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, generating employment opportunities for 50,000 people”, it said.

The Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce, continues to actively implement various
initiatives to attract large-scale investments, create numerous job opportunities for Tamil Nadu’s youth, especiallybwomen, enhance their quality of life, and ensure widespread development across the state.

As the two manufacturing facilities being set up by Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited in the industrially backward districts of Karur and Perambalur, a significant number of job opportunities will be created for the youth, especially women, in these districts and the surrounding regions.

This initiative will not only increase individual income levels but also contribute to the overall economic development of the area.
