Terminal 2 Expansion Nearing Completion
Minister Naidu announced that Phase II of Terminal 2 is in its final stages and will soon be operational. This expansion aims to increase passenger capacity and improve overall airport efficiency, catering to the growing air traffic in Chennai.
Parandhur Airport Project: Site Clearance Approved
Speaking on the Parandhur Airport project, he stated that site clearance has been granted, and the project is awaiting in-principle approval. He clarified that land selection is under the state government’s jurisdiction, while the central government is responsible for feasibility studies and necessary approvals.
Plans to Address Runway 2 Limitations
Regarding Runway 2 at Chennai Airport, Minister Naidu acknowledged that wide-body aircraft currently cannot land on it. However, he assured that plans are in place to integrate the runways, which will enhance airport operations and efficiency.
