Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has hit back at Congress MP Sashikant Senthil for his remarks on the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy.Sashikant Senthil had criticized the policy on his social media page, calling it an imposition of language and a threat to cultural identity. Responding sharply, Annamalai accused him of spreading falsehoods and avoiding the real issues in the stateâs education system.
In a strongly worded statement, Annamalai stated, “Sashikant Senthil must first apologize for falsely claiming that I said Tamil students fail in UPSC exams due to a lack of Hindi knowledge. Repeating a lie does not make it true.”
Calls for Educational Reforms in Government Schools
Annamalai further questioned the lack of reforms in Tamil Nadu’s public school curriculum over the past decade.
“Isn’t it social justice to ensure that students from urban private schools and rural government schools follow the same curriculum? You should be ashamed to admit that the government school syllabus hasn’t changed in ten years. Does your ally, the DMK, have no shame either?” he asked.
He also criticized the ruling DMK for allegedly maintaining double standards in education.
“DMK leaders, including the School Education Ministerâs own son, study in private schools. Instead of improving the quality of government education, they continue deceiving poor students while running private schools for profit. What stops them from questioning this hypocrisy?” Annamalai added.
The war of words between the BJP and the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu continues to intensify, especially over language policies and education reforms.
