In a dramatic turn of events, the police in Cuddalore district opened fire on a burglar named Stephen, who attempted to escape during an operation in Chidambaram’s Annamalai Nagar.
According to reports, Stephen, who had stolen 10 sovereigns of gold, a laptop, and ā¹50,000 in cash from a residence near Chidambaram, had hidden the stolen valuables in a bushy area along Sithalapadi Road.
When the police tracked him down and attempted to recover the stolen items, Stephen suddenly attacked them with a concealed knife and tried to flee. In response, the police fired at him, injuring his knee. He was immediately taken into custody with a minor injury.
It is noteworthy that Stephen has over 25 theft cases registered against him across multiple districts, including Kanyakumari.
