Rameswaram: The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 11 fishermen from Rameswaram for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing near Neduntheevu.Reports state that along with the fishermen, the Navy also seized a mechanised boat. This incident adds to the ongoing tension between Indian fishermen and Sri Lankan authorities over fishing rights in the Palk Strait.
Fishermen associations have urged the Indian government to intervene and secure the release of those detained.
