For the first time, a job fair for research scholars of IIT-Madras began at the campus on Thursday. The first day of the fair was dedicated to Women empowernent Day, emphasising their contributions to STEM fields.
Eaton, a multi-national intelligent power management company, also launched âEatonâs Pratibha Awardsâ to recognize nine female students from IIT Madras. Each of them will receive a grant, at Rs. 1.25 lakh.
This job fair was being held during the All India Research Scholars Summit (AIRSS) 2025 being conducted for four days.
Another unique factor was that nearly 30 per cent of all participants were from the Humanities Department.
It is the second edition of this Summit, dedicated to fostering research collaborations with the industry.
It brings together scholars, academicians, industry leaders, and innovators from diverse fields across India.
The Institute is working with the industry to coordinate the job fair. This summit is a student-run event and among the largest of its kind that is dedicated exclusively for research scholars.
Congratulating the researchers, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, âFor Viksit Bharat @ 2047, it is very important that state-of-the-art research is pursued in India, resulting in technological solutions for the diverse set of issues faced by our citizens. I strongly believe that this summit will pave the way for strong research collaborations among our vibrant research community.â
He said âLife as a researcher will be memorable and have many takeaways for a lifetime. I am very glad to be interacting with scholars in the offline edition of Research Scholars Fest after a long break. I believe that doors are now open for a brighter future, and I wish all the students a great career ahead.â
