AIADMK senior leader and former minister D. Jayakumar has countered Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay’s claim that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be a direct contest between TVK and DMK.
At a TVK general body meeting in Thiruvanmiyur yesterday, Vijay passionately declared that the 2026 elections would be a two-way contest between his party and the ruling DMK, urging his supporters to remain confident.
Reacting to Vijay’s statement, Jayakumar dismissed his claim, asserting that the real political battle would be between AIADMK and DMK.
“Vijay is making such statements to motivate his party members, but the actual contest will always be between AIADMK and DMK,” Jayakumar stated.
With this, AIADMK has made it clear that they do not see TVK as a major challenger in the upcoming elections.
