Responding to questions from journalists regarding his recent trip to Delhi, senior AIADMK leader Sengottaiyan chose to remain cryptic, saying, “Silence is for the greater good,” before walking away without offering further details.
Political circles have been abuzz with speculation about differences between Sengottaiyan and the AIADMK’s General Secretary, I. P. S. In recent times, Sengottaiyan has been notably absent from several party meetings, including gatherings of AIADMK MLAs, leading to rumors of rifts within the party. While the party has sought to downplay these speculations, with I.P.S. asserting in a recent press interaction that the party remains united, the absence of key figures like Sengottaiyan has fueled further discussions about potential divisions.
Sengottaiyan’s recent visit to Delhi further intensified these rumors. Last week, I.P.S. traveled to the national capital with senior party officials to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah. Following his return, on March 28, Sengottaiyan also visited Delhi independently, where he reportedly met with central ministers Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman.
When journalists inquired today (March 31) about his trip to Delhi and his prolonged silence on political matters, Sengottaiyan responded briefly, stating, “Silence is for the greater good.” This one-liner did little to clarify his stance, but it added to the intrigue surrounding the ongoing political developments within AIADMK.
While the party leadership has attempted to maintain a united front, with I.P.S. repeatedly assuring reporters of the party’s solidarity, the absence of a clear explanation from Sengottaiyan continues to raise questions about the internal dynamics of Tamil Nadu’s prominent political party. As speculation grows, the focus will remain on whether this silence signals deeper tensions or is merely a temporary phase in AIADMK’s evolving political landscape.
