Aavin, Tamil Nadu’s leading dairy brand, has set an ambitious target of capturing 65% market share in the next five years, according to a policy note presented by Milk and Dairy Development Minister R.S. Rajakannappan in the Assembly on Wednesday.Aavin has seen a surge in milk packet sales in Chennai, adding 15 lakh new customers in the past three years. To meet rising demand, the daily milk procurement target has been increased to 50 lakh litres, with the government raising the procurement price by ₹3 per litre.
To support dairy farmers, initiatives like instant payment slips, dairy loans, green fodder supply, and livestock insurance have been implemented.
Major Expansions Underway
New Ice Cream Plant in Trichy: A ₹43.41 crore plant will be commissioned in June 2025, boosting revenue and producing high-quality dairy products.
Mega Dairy Farm in Madhavaram: With a ₹141.18 crore investment, a 10-lakh-litre-per-day facility will open in March 2026, catering to Chennai’s growing milk demand.
With these expansions, Aavin is set to strengthen its hold on the dairy market while ensuring affordability and quality for consumers.
