The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a sudden raid on locations linked to the production companies of the controversial film ‘Empuraan’, causing a stir in the industry.
Recently, the much-anticipated sequel to ‘Lucifer’, titled ‘L2: Empuraan’, directed by Prithviraj, was released. The film was jointly produced by Gokulam Movies and Lyca Productions. However, it has sparked controversy, with allegations that certain scenes hurt Hindu sentiments. Members of the RSS demanded the removal of specific scenes, leading to the deletion of a two-minute sequence. Actor Mohanlal also expressed his regret over the controversy.
Additionally, the film features content related to the Mullaperiyar Dam dispute, which has triggered protests in Tamil Nadu as well.
Amid this backdrop, the ED conducted raids at five locations linked to Gokulam Group, including the Gokulam Chit Funds financial institution and the residence of Gokulam Gopalan. Given that Gokulam Movies, a subsidiary of the group, produced ‘Empuraan’, these raids have intensified speculations about the link between the filmās controversies and the financial probe.
