IPL betting scam in Kovai: Rs 1.09 cr seized, 7 arrested


Coimbatore, Apr 12:
In a major crackdown on illegal betting, Coimbatore police arrested seven individuals involved in betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches. A total of Rs 1.09 crore in cash was seized from the accused.
Acting on a tip-off about ongoing IPL betting operations, police conducted a targeted raid and arrested Rajesh, Soundar, Arunkumar, Nandakumar, Vipul, Jithendra, and Vipin. The arrests led to the seizure of Rs 1.09 crore in cash, two cars, two bikes, and 12 mobile phones used in the betting operations.
Police officials are currently interrogating the suspects from various angles to uncover further details about the network and possible connections to larger betting syndicates. The investigation is ongoing.
