Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday inaugurated Sify Technologies’ AI-ready Data Centre campus at Siruseri, near Chennai. Built with an investment of Rs 1,882 crore, the facility will provide employment to 1,000 people.
Located within the SIPCOT IT Park in Egattur, the new facility is South India’s largest AI-ready and IGBC Platinum-rated green data centre. It marks a significant step in Tamil Nadu’s push towards becoming a digital infrastructure hub.
An official statement said Sify Technologies plans to expand its total investment in Tamil Nadu to Rs 13,000 crore by 2027. The data centre project was first announced through an MoU signed during the Global Investors Meet held in Chennai in January 2024.
Highlighting Tamil Nadu’s economic progress, the release noted that the state has become the second-largest economy in India. With a record growth rate of 9.69% in 2024–25 — the highest in the past decade — the state continues to lead in manufacturing, exports, and job creation, especially for women.
From 2021 to 2025, the state government has signed 895 MoUs worth Rs 10.14 lakh crore, creating over 32 lakh job opportunities. The Chief Minister’s unveiling of the Tamil Nadu Data Centre Policy in November 2021 has attracted significant investment and reinforced the state’s ambition to become India’s data centre capital.
