Following the massive success of Lucky Bhaskar, Dulquer Salmaan’s next film, Kaantha, is generating considerable buzz. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, this period drama set in 1950s Chennai (then Madras) has already piqued interest, with the makers revealing a character poster of Samuthirakani, who plays ‘Ayya’ in the film. The black-and-white poster, reminiscent of Dulquer’s, adds to the vintage vibe of the movie.Produced by Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese under Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films, Kaantha also stars Rana Daggubati and Bhagyashri Borse in key roles. The film marks Dulquer’s home banner Wayfarer Films’ expansion into non-Malayalam cinema, in collaboration with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media.
The film’s technical team features Spanish cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez (known for Mahanati), editor Lewellyn Anthony Gonsalves, and music composer Jhanu Chanthar. Kaantha will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, promising to be a cinematic treat across languages.
