In view of the upcoming Labour Day (May 1), auspicious wedding dates (May 2), and the extended weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTC) has announced over 1,700 special bus services to cater to the expected surge in passenger traffic across the state.
The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC), in a press release, confirmed that the special services will operate between April 30 and May 4, covering major destinations within Tamil Nadu and beyond.
On April 30 alone, 565 special buses will be operated from the Kilambakkam Bus Terminal to high-demand locations like Tiruvannamalai and Tiruchy. Additionally, another 375 buses will be deployed on May 2 and 3. From Koyambedu, 100 buses will run to Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru on April 30, with another 90 services planned for May 2 and 3.
In addition, 250 special buses will be operated from cities such as Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode, and Coimbatore to meet intercity demand. Madhavaram terminal will also witness 24 extra services during this period.
To manage the return rush after the long weekend, 715 special buses will be deployed on Sunday, May 4, bringing passengers back to Chennai and Bengaluru from various parts of Tamil Nadu.
Advance booking trends indicate a high demand, with over 16,000 tickets already reserved for April 30. Transport officials anticipate a significant increase in bookings over the next few days.
Passengers are encouraged to avoid last-minute travel hassles by booking tickets in advance via www.tnstc.in or the official TNSTC mobile app. To ensure a smooth travel experience, additional staff will be stationed at major bus depots across the state for crowd management and passenger assistance.
